Nepean River Tours offers fishing charters of the Nepean River and Warragamba River Gorges. The gorges are a true hidden gem of Sydney with high sandstone cliffs, an abundance of wildlife including resident sea eagles, kingfishers and bell birds, and of course wonderful freshwater fishing.

Nepean River Tours is a freshwater lure fishing specialist, using quality fishing equipment and a custom built Bass boat. You will be escorted by a local fishing guide, targeting Bass, Mullet, Carp, Herring and more. All equipment is supplied, including a fishing licence and light refreshments and snacks; all you need to bring is a hat and don't forget your camera.

Your guide is Steve Defina, who lives locally and has been fishing these parts for many years. All levels of skill and experience are catered for, from the first timers through to legends. If you're into fly fishing he can help you there too.

Freshwater Fishing

Set out from the wharf at Tench Reserve, Penrith and head up river deep into the Nepean Gorge. The most popular tour is half day (approximately 4.5 hours) at anytime that suits you. The custom built boat allows passage to places where few people, let alone fishing people, get to go. Truly the catching of fish is a bonus as you are in an amazing natural wonderland, sheer sandstone gorge walls, huge gums, clear clean water, sea eagles flying overhead, fish leaping from the water - a true hidden treasure and only 45 minutes from downtown Sydney and fringed by the Blue Mountains National Park. Nepean River Tours targets the hard fighting native bass as well as freshwater and bully mullet, huge carp (up to 15 kilograms!) and, an easy one for the kids to reel in, the freshwater herring. All the equipment you will need is supplied. All you need to bring is a hat and jacket, and your fishing licence for the day is included. They carry plenty of water, soft drinks, snacks and fruit on board.

Eco Tours / River Cruise

Enjoy a wonderful two hour cruise of the Nepean and Warragamba Gorges, which is an amazing place more like the Kimberleys but only less than a hour from Sydney's central business district. See the resident white bellied sea eagles, azure kingfishers, bell birds and rock wallabies, not to mention waterfalls, high sandstone cliffs and you might even see the face of Warragamba Dam. This tour is for two passengers only.
